My roses are looking tired & old?

We intentionally keep the 'guard' petals on our roses to protect them during transit. These are the protective, tough, darker frilled outer petals which can make the flower look tired and brown. Gently remove the outer 2-3 petals to reveal the new and soft petals inside and allow the flower to begin opening up.

At Pinks we source the freshest, largest headed roses from our suppliers. Due to their large appearance they can easily be mistaken for older blooms. In fact these are the freshest blooms and will continue to grow to almost double the size after arrival.

Why has my hydrangea wilted?

Hydrangeas are very temperamental, they can appear in perfect condition one moment then suddenly turn seconds later. Due to their large thirsty floral heads these stems can wilt very fast. It is important to ensure your fresh cut hydrangea stems are cut at an angle before adding to a very deep filled vase of water. The stems must be able to drink constantly, as they love deep fresh water! Due to their woody stem it can be hard for hydrangea to absorb water through the sticky sap inside, a great florist tip is to tip the hydrangea head upside down and submerge the hydrangea head into a deep large bucket of water over night. We advise a min of 15hrs (its always worth doing over night). This method can be used before the stem has wilted to help prevent it from happening or can also be done when the hydrangea has already wilted.
